OpenROADM Presents MSA Updates

This show floor session will provide updates on OpenROADM MSA's recent activities, including updates to data models, the evolution of optical specifications for B400, and an introduction to the evolution of OpenROADM use cases. We will also present updates on the open source controller (TransportPCE) and showcase a live interoperable demonstration of OpenROADM equipment and use cases.

    About the Speaker

    Andrea Fumagalli is the Director of OpenLab at the University of Texas, Dallas. 

  • Dirk Breuer

    Deutsche Telekom, Germany

    About the Speaker

    Dirk Breuer received the Dipl.-Ing. and Dr.-Ing. degree in electrical engineering from Technical University of Berlin in 1993 and 1999, respectively. In 2000 Dr. Breuer joint Deutsche Telekom group as a network architect on optical transport networks, particularly with respect to open and interoperable network architectures and solutions. During the last years Dirk is also involved in several TIP Open Optical & Packet Transport projects and OpenROADM. Since October 2025 he serves as chair for OpenROADM.
     

  • Olivier Renais

    Orange Labs, France

    About the Speaker

    Olivier Renais received his master‘s degree of Optronics in 1992 from the E.N.S.S.A.T Lannion. He has been working as a System Engineer in Pirelli and CISCO Systems, as a consultant in NORTEL, and joined Orange Labs Lannion in 2005 as an optical network architect. Renais represents Orange at the OpenROADM board, and is deeply involved in transportPCE, an OpenDaylight project which provides a reference implementation for the control of OpenROADM based optical infrastructure.

  • Qingyun Liu

    AT&T, United States

    About the Speaker

    Qingyun (Wendell) Liu is an expert Member of Technical Staff at AT&T, and has been working in the telecom industry for over thirty years, with diverse experiences from field and center operations, new technology evaluation and certification, and optical network architecture.  Wendell is currently involved in OpenROADM MSA promoting open and interoperable optical network architecture and solutions.
     

  • Yoshiake Sone

    NTT, Japan

    About the Speaker

    Yoshiake Sone is a Group Leader and Senior Research Engineer at the Frontier Communication Laboratory, NTT Network Innovation Laboratories. He received his M.E. in Electronics Engineering from Tohoku University in 2003 and joined NTT the same year. His work has spanned research and development of optical transport systems, network engineering, and contributions to industry standardization. His current focus includes advancing optical network digital twin technologies and leading related standardization efforts within the IOWN Global Forum and the OpenROADM MSA. Sone is a member of IEEE.
