Broadband Forum Presents From Connectivity to Intelligence: Evolving Toward a Converged Multi-Access Optical PON Network

19 Mar 2026
14:30 - 15:30
Expo Theater III

The future of Passive Optical Networks (PON) is being shaped by two major forces: the convergence of access networks to serve residential, business, mobile, IoT, and smart city applications, and the rising demand for intelligent, service-aware infrastructure that ensures assured Quality of Experience (QoE). To address these shifts, PON must evolve beyond traditional residential connectivity into a unified, multi-access platform capable of supporting diverse services and dynamic use cases. This session explores the latest advancements in technology and standards that enable this transformation — from next-generation PON architectures to AI-driven network intelligence and open, interoperable frameworks — paving the way for flexible, scalable, and future-proof access networks.
