Expo Theater II
This panel distills industry progress into a practical deployment recipe that addresses:
- PON Coexistence Engineering – wavelength placement, power budgets, splitting ratios, probe repetition rates and receiver constraints in point-to-multipoint topologies.
- Signal Design vs. SNR Trade-offs – how coded probe formats improve detection fidelity at access-class launch powers.
- Event Processing and System Integration – turning raw interferometric traces into actionable alarms that can be correlated with existing network OAM tools. Development of digital twins of the ODN that can enable precise detection, localization and identification of threats using integrated databases, cloud-based architectures and AI-powered algorithms.
- Operator Readiness – defining KPIs, detection thresholds and the steps from lab demonstration to controlled field trials.
The session brings together operators, equipment vendors, and academic researchers, offering complementary perspectives on deployment, technology development and fundamental science. Panelists will share results from lab platforms and pre-trial planning, highlighting the engineering challenges and solutions emerging across the ecosystem.
The panel will close with business case perspectives: outage prevention, truck-roll reduction and new “sensing-as-a-service” opportunities (traffic monitoring, perimeter security, pipeline protection) that leverage the existing ODN footprint.
