The Open Compute Project Foundation's (OCP) Short-Reach Optical Interconnects Initiative (SROI) is advancing the market for short-reach optics, focusing on scale-up connectivity in AI pods and clusters. Through a consensus-based approach involving key market contributors, SROI seeks to enhance processor-to-processor and processor-to-memory bandwidth by clearly defining the requirements and metrics for optical compute I/O within the OCP Community.
An expert panel will present the results of over a year's work addressing critical challenges. These include packaging, the physical layer, failure and availability, performance, the distance to the all-photonic horizon, and other pertinent issues. The session will feature open and frank discussion among the panelists regarding use cases and recommendations.
