Driven by explosive growth in cloud services and AI workloads, data center and transport networks have driven rapid advancements in optical technologies such as high-speed pluggable optics, coherent transmission, and open, software-driven architectures. At the same time, optical access networks—particularly PON-based systems— are facing the same increasing demands for higher capacity, lower latency, flexibility, and cost efficiency. This workshop explores the bidirectional exchange of opportunities between DC networks and optical access networks, which is extending into new domains such as enterprise networking.
