Coherent technology has been touted to enter the Datacenters for some time. Thus far much higher cost compared to the IM-DD technology has been a major hurdle. As we move to higher data rates: 1.6T and beyond, implementation of IM-DD becomes increasingly challenging. Coherent lite has recently emerged as a potential low-cost option to address the needs of AI networks which also include OCS that require higher link loss budget. This Market Watch session will address the new technology developments and challenges for deployment of Coherent lite within Datacenters.
