Anti-resonant hollow-core fiber (AR-HCF) is moving rapidly from specialized use within select organizations towards broader deployment, supported by a growing range of field trials and initial commercial applications. However, substantial technical, operational, economic, and ecosystem-related gaps remain between these early successes and large-scale adoption. This panel will identify what is still missing for large-scale AR-HCF deployment and discuss the associated risks, unknowns, and priorities.
The first session will focus on building a scalable AR-HCF ecosystem encompassing both the fiber itself and the interconnection devices required for its deployment. Topics will include standardization, multi-vendor interoperability, compatibility with existing systems and workflows, long-term cost-effectiveness, and an adoption roadmap.
The second session will focus on deploying and operating AR-HCF in real networks, addressing installation, monitoring and fault diagnosis, field repair and service restoration, operational interoperability and vendor lock-in risks, long-term reliability and qualification, maintenance, and lifecycle management.
