This panel session will bring together the latest advances in optical microwave frequency synthesis and the current application demands and opportunities. Progress has been made in realizing commercially available optical frequency combs and high-Q resonator based optical technologies to meet many of the previously unobtainable requirements as well as system integration issues. In addition, new technological and maturity developments in photonic integrated circuit now offer opportunities with cost, size, weight and power advantages. The session will focus on system-level performance and integration issues and active discussions on market insertion opportunities.
