IOWN Global Forum Presents Open Optical Circuit Switches for AI Infrastructure: From Use Cases to Multi-Vendor Demonstration through IOWN–OCP Collaboration

09 Mar 2027
10:30 - 11:30
Expo Theater II

IOWN and OCP are collaborating to accelerate the deployment of Optical-Circuit-Switch (OCS) based AI infrastructure. This session will present the results of their complementary efforts: IOWN has developed practical OCS use cases and a system-level reference implementation for AI infrastructure, while OCP has defined an open, standardized interface for controlling OCS systems.

Based on these use cases and the reference implementation, a live demonstration will be conducted in which OCSs from multiple vendors were dynamically controlled through the OCP-defined interface. The demonstration validated the interoperability and practical feasibility of OCS control in a multi-vendor environment.

The panel will present the outcomes and lessons learned from this activity and discuss the technical and operational challenges identified through the demonstration. Panelists will also explore the future direction of the collaboration, including the further development of OCS use cases, interfaces, and implementations.
By connecting use-case definition, reference implementation, open interface standardization, and multi-vendor validation, the session will examine how IOWN–OCP collaboration can accelerate the deployment, commercialization, and ecosystem development of scalable, flexible, and energy-efficient OCS-based AI infrastructure.
