OneTouch Technology presents its Single-Wavelength 400G per lane Heterogeneous Integrated Thin-Film Lithium Niobate on Silicon Photonic Modulator at OFC

OneTouch Technology is pioneering optical communication solutions through an advanced silicon photonics technology. Our energy-efficient TFLN modulators set record bandwidths in a manufacturing technology that can be scaled to mass production.

In comparison to traditional silicon photonic modulators, our heterogeneous thin-film lithium niobate on silicon photonic modulators combine high bandwidth and low insertion loss with a low drive voltage.

Our multichannel modulators adopt a CW laser and an on-chip 1-to-4 or even 1-to-8 splitting scheme. It eases the optical power requirements, thereby reducing both cost and power consumption.

Taking the 800G DR4 PIC as an example, our single-wavelength 200G per lane MZM demonstrates high modulation efficiency, achieving excellent test results even at a low drive voltage. As the figure below shows, we recorded a single-wavelength 200G PAM4 open eye diagram with an ER of 4.6 dB and a TDECQ of 1.25 dB.

Our latest generation of differential-drive modulators demonstrated a 3dB EO bandwidth that exceeded 110 GHz, paving the way towards more power-efficient single-wavelength 200 Gbps per lane solutions. The technology is suitable for inter- and intra-datacenter communications. It is poised to be one of the most competitive solutions for single-wavelength 400 Gbps per lane applications.
