Fiber Innovations: Past, Present, and the Shape of the Future

Thursday, 10 June 10:00 – 10:30

Corning: The realization of low loss optical fiber in 1970 transformed the world of communications. Over the years that followed optical fiber technology enabled us to talk, share data, and see each other real-time all over the world. But in 2020, our need to connect to overcome the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the value and power of optical fiber networks, igniting a desire to extend the power of fiber to more people and more services all around the world. To do this optical fiber solutions need to deliver more pathways and more capacity: we explore how recent advances in optical fiber will transport our networks to a new realm of possibilities and thus shape the future of communications and connectivity.
