MW Panel IV: Next Generation PON Technologies

Wednesday, 27 March, 14:15 – 15:45

Theater I

Session Description
PON technology continues evolving, moving from the early days of a best-effort FTTH technology to supporting bandwidth and latency-sensitive residential and enterprise services, smart city applications, and xHaul transport. Today’s solutions enable a wide range of deployment scenarios, ranging from the central office to the edge or in the field. Today, 10G PON deployments are commonplace, 25G PON is being deployed, and 50G PON will soon become commercially available. What comes next for PON technology? What will VHSP (very high-speed PON) enable? How can network operators take advantage of PON’s fiber, optics, and power efficiencies to support the networks of 2030, 2035, and beyond? How can the vendor ecosystem successfully support the wide range of network operator requirements and strategies?
