ExaMAX® High-Speed Backplane System
ExaMAX high-density backplane systems offer design flexibility to fit a variety of applications, including Samtec Flyover® cable supporting 112 Gbps PAM4 and board-to-board supporting 56 Gbps PAM4.
ExaMAX backplane cable systems improve signal integrity and routability using Samtec Flyover technology, which routes the signal above a lossy PCB using co-extruded, ultra-low skew twinax for improved bandwidth and reach.
The ExaMAX board-to-board system contact system achieves two reliable points of contact at all times and minimizes residual stub for improved signal integrity performance, while providing low mating force and excellent contact normal force.
New Mezzanine Connectors For 112 Gbps PAM4 Performance
The innovative design of NovaRay combines extreme density and performance, which are critical as system sizes decrease and speeds increase. The NovaRay system is rated at 112 Gbps PAM4 per channel.

PCI Express® Mid-Board Optics
Samtec’s FireFly™ based PCI Express-Over-Fiber solution offers key features that solve the challenges of transmitting the PCIe® protocol over longer links. The miniature size of Samtec’s high-density optical engines allows them to be easily designed into the downstream system, ultimately making these systems smaller. Highly flexible, small diameter, industry standard optical patch cords provide connection to the control system.
The PCUO series is for Gen 3/4, x4, x8 and x16 widths, and duplex auxiliary signals allow both transparent and non-transparent bridging. It boasts high-performance signal quality with a BER better than 1e-15. The PCUO system transmits signals to 100 meters.
Precision RF Connectors For Microwave and Millimeter Wave Applications, From 18 GHz to 110 GHz
Samtec offers a full line of off-the-shelf products for microwave and millimeter wave applications from 18 GHz to 110 GHz. Complete, end-to-end cable assemblies are available on a wide range of low-loss flexible cable, including .047, .085, and .086. Cable connectors, board level interconnects, and cable assemblies offer interface types of 1.00 mm, 1.85 mm, SMPM, SMP, 2.40 mm, 2.92 mm, 3.50 mm, SSMA, SMA, N Type and TNCA.

Samtec FireFly copper and optical cable systems provide the flexibility to achieve higher data rates to 28 Gbps and greater distances, simplifying board design and enhancing performance. The miniature footprint allows for greater density and closer proximity to the IC, simplifying board layout and imrpoves signal integrity.
FireFly Copper systems are rated to 28 Gbps, in x4 bidirectional or x12 unidirectional.
FireFly Optical systems are also rated to 28 Gbps, in x4 and x12 designs. Extended Temperature FireFly™ is available for military and industrial applications. A PCIe-Over-Fiber optical cable with Gen 3/4 data transfer rates and a PCIe-Over-Fiber adaptor card.

Samtec FireFly copper and optical cable systems provide the flexibility to achieve higher data rates to 28 Gbps and greater distances. The system’s miniature footprint allows for greater density and closer proximity to the IC, simplifying board layout and it enhances signal integrity.
The FireFly XT supports temperature ranges of -40°C to +85°C and is vibration and shock test to methods specified in MIL-STD-810.

Samtec Flyover® High-Speed Cable Assemblies: Up to 112 Gbps PAM4 Data Rates
Samtec Flyover® high-speed cable assemblies with Eye Speed® twinax cable provide a a cost–effective, high-performance, and heat-efficient answer to the challenges of 28, 56, and 112 Gbps bandwidths.
Samtec's proprietary co-extruded Eye Speed® twinax cable technology eliminates the performance limitations and inconsistencies of individually extruded dielectric twinax cabling. Samtec Flyover allows designers to extend signal reach and density to achieve next gen speeds by routing signals through low-loss, ultra-low skew twinax cable, instead of through expensive, lossy PCBs.
High-speed cable assembly systems are designed for mid-board, backplane, and panel applications.
Samtec Flyover® QSFP-DD Cable System
Samtec’s FQSFP-DD takes the Samtec Flyover® Cable architecture to the QSFP-DD form factor. QSFP-DD pluggable modules support double the aggregate bandwidth of conventional QSFP modules by adding a second row of contacts which enable support for a 16 differential pair electrical interface. Systems designed for QSFP-DD modules will be backwards compatible with existing QSFP plug-in modules.
FQSFP-DD provides 25 Gbps NRZ per channel, for an aggregate of 200 Gbps NRZ (400 Gbps PAM4). The belly-to-belly mating allows maximum density, with heat dissipation of ~7 W / cable. Direct connect sidebands increase airflow and eliminate the need for extra cables.
