PacketLight Networks Announces the PL-2000T 800G Transponder for High Capacity 200G Metro and 100G Long Haul Applications

Integrated mux/demux, optical amplifier, optical switch and Layer-1 optical encryption in 1U

Tel Aviv, Israel – February 28, 2019 - PacketLight Networks, a leading provider of DWDM and optical fiber networking solutions, today announces the launch of the PL-2000T, a modular and cost-effective transponder solution for high capacity metro and long haul applications, designed to support multiple 100G services, increase existing network capacity, and provide secure transport. The device has four 200G pluggable coherent optical modules to enable pay-as-you-grow architecture, and delivers the entire optical layer solution in a 1RU with up to 800G capacity for metro applications and 400G for long haul applications.

The PL-2000T is a fully integrated solution, offering mux/demux, amplifier, optical switch and embedded Layer-1 optical encryption. It provides a full demarcation point between the service CPE side and the uplink DWDM side, and is interoperable with any third party switch or router. This enables full visibility and performance monitoring of both the line optical transport layer (OTN) and the 100G LAN/OTU4 service interfaces.

“The PL-2000T focuses on our customers’ need for a secure, compact, scalable, and high capacity transport solution. The device delivers high capacity 100G services with variable modulation schemes, covering a large variety of deployments and applications,” says Koby Reshef, CEO of PacketLight Networks “It’s a unique platform offering protection, amplification, and wavelength multiplexing, enabling simple and quick deployment while saving rack space and reducing power consumption.”

The PL-2000T has three operation modes: QAM 8 and QAM16 for 200G metro, and DP-QPSK 100G for long haul. The support and flexible selection of these modulation modes enables using the same device for multiple applications in the network, such as alien wavelength applications, last mile access/aggregation CPE for 100G managed services, high capacity DCI for enterprise, and encrypted communication for 100G protocols.

PacketLight will be showcasing the PL-2000T at The Optical Networking and Communication Conference & Exhibition from March 4-6, 2019. To schedule a meeting, contact Michal_Naor@packetlight.com.
