MRV Deploys VPILinkConfigurator for Optical Network Design

Somerset, NJ (February 14, 2011) – VPIphotonics, a division of VPIsystems, is pleased to announce that its VPIlinkConfigurator has been selected by MRV.

MRV, a leader in the industry, “has selected VPI’s product as the basis for our Optical Networks design tool.” Says Shlomo Groisman, Product line Manager for Lambda Driver Products at MRV.

Bob Polsen, General Manager of VPIphotonics says, “VPI has formed a strategic partnership with MRV to design a customized version of LinkConfigurator to design their network solutions based on their specific equipment parameters and business design rules.”

VPIlinkConfigurator enables engineers to design complete optical networks by automatically placing the required OADMs, ROADMs, EDFAs, Raman amplifiers and other equipment. Because system performance, including linear and nonlinear impairments, is determined for all optical channels at every point in the system, this can be accomplished without the inaccuracies resulting from over-simplification in the usual spreadsheet approach. Thus, users can respond more quickly and accurately to optical network design tasks, product application requests and Requests for Proposals (RFPs). VPIlinkConfigurator facilitates the design process from network topology entry to performance and inventory reporting. This can be extended through the use of a powerful API to include interaction with third party software such as common office applications for enhanced data capture and processing.
