CALIENT Announces Slate of New Product Launch Activities at OFC/NFOEC

Co-Founder John Bowers to Receive John Tyndall Award

SANTA BARBARA, Mar. 1 - BOOTH #1352 — CALIENT Technologies, Inc., the global leader in photonic switching technology, announced today that it has a fun slate of activities planned for the launch of its new photonic switch at the 2012 OFC/NFOEC show being held at the Los Angeles Convention Center, March 6-8. OFC/NFOEC is the world’s leading event for advancing optical solutions in telecom, datacom and cloud computing.

CALIENT will be unveiling an exciting new photonic switch for data centers, cloud computing and service providers at its booth #1352. The product will also be presented at the OFC/NFOEC Exhibitor Showcase in Show Floor Theater 3 on Thursday, March 8 from 12:00-12:30 p.m. The half-hour presentation will enable interested parties to learn about the new product’s features and benefits, and includes a Q&A session. Show attendees are invited to stop by the CALIENT booth to see the new switch and enter for a chance to win an Apple iPad that will be given away in a random drawing.

CALIENT co-founder Dr. John Bowers, Fred Kavli Chair of Nanotechnology, director of the Institute for Energy Efficiency and professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of California Santa Barbara, will receive the Optical Society and IEEE Photonics Society 2012 John Tyndall award during the plenary session, Tuesday, March 6 from 8:00 am to 11:00 am. The John Tyndall award is given annually to an individual who has made pioneering, highly significant or continuing technical or leadership contributions to fiber optics technology. Dr. Bowers is being honored for his pioneering research in hybrid-silicon lasers and photonic integrated circuits.

To celebrate the new product launch and Dr. John Bowers’ receipt of the John Tyndall Award, CALIENT will be hosting a mixer event at its booth on Wednesday, March 7 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. for customers and colleagues. Anyone interested in an invitation should stop by the CALIENT booth prior to the event.
