Roshmere demonstrates 800Gbps per wavelength all-silicon capability

San Diego, California, March 12, 2018 – Roshmere, a provider of advanced optical solutions, is demonstrating a new platform based on an all-silicon technology at the Optical Fiber Conference (OFC) in San Diego. The new platform enables disruptive spectral efficiency for datacenter connectivity and metro applications. This platform enables products that are specifically aimed at deployments demanding plug-n-play, high-capacity provisioning, with minimal overhead investment.

Roshmere platform unifies three disruptive technologies:
  • A high bandwidth front-end combining an all-silicon modulator and detector
  • Advanced waveform equalization for channels carrying up to 256-QAM constellation
  • PetawaveTM, a patented Roshmere laser solution
According to Duncan Baird, GM of DCI Systems, “Roshmere technology platform delivers disruptive spectral density, integration and power consumption for capacity scaling to enable next-gen datacenter infrastructure. The silicon photonics process was developed in partnership with GLOBALFOUNDRIES and will be manufactured at the company’s fab in East Fishkill, New York.”

The new platform is capable of supporting high bandwidth and high-constellation channels. Roshmere platform can trade channel granularity for system reach by selecting one of provisioned modes ranging from 16 to 256QAM. In conjunction with proprietary silicon photonics, ADC/DAC and advanced equalization, PetawaveTM offers reduced DSP complexity, lower power consumption, higher spectral efficiency and longer reach.

At OFC, Roshmere is demonstrating key components of this new transceiver capable of transmitting up to 800Gbps using a single carrier (wavelength), with unrepeated reach that exceeds 100km over conventionally deployed single mode fiber infrastructure.
