UCSB Professor John Bowers Presents at OFC Product Showcase

Presentation Highlights PhoeniX Software PDK for Hybrid SOI & III-V Integration

Enschede, The Netherlands – PhoeniX Software, the standard for photonic chip design, announced today that UCSB Professor John Bowers will be presenting at the PhoeniX Software OFC product showcase. Professor Bowers will discuss UCSB’s collaboration with PhoeniX Software to enable hybrid SOI & III-V PIC design using PhoeniX Software’s award winning OptoDesigner 5.1 product suite. The presentation will be from 11:00-11:30 on March 22nd at the Los Angeles Convention Center, Theater III.

Hybrid ICs such as being produced by UCSB enable designers to truly integrate active and passive photonic devices in a cost-effective way. Professor Bowers will be highlighting how they have parameterized and integrated these building blocks into a PIC design flow using the PhoeniX Software OptoDesigner product suite.  Professor Bowers will also discuss some of the newest features of OptoDesigner such as phase aware photonic building blocks and waveguides.

“We are very excited to be partnering with UCBS on their hybrid SOI & III-V integration platform”, said Twan Korthorst, CEO of PhoeniX Software. “We are working closely with Professor Bowers’ world class team to enable designers access to their exciting technology."
