Session Description:
The Open Compute Project Foundation has been curating the Short Reach Optical Interconnects Initiative (SROI) initiative. The SROI mission is to guide the market forward with key market contributors in a consensus-based approach for short-reach optics that can improve processor-to-processor and processor-to-memory bandwidth by clearly defining the requirements and metrics for optical compute I/O for the OCP Community. This panel of industry experts will reveal the results of over a year-long effort to work through critical challenges such as packaging, physical layer, failure and availability, performance, distance to all photonic horizons, and other issues. There will be open and frank discussion between the panelists on the use cases and recommendations.
