Session Description:
In the cloud era, explosive traffic growth will push the throughput of the data center to new heights. In this context, the bit rate of the Ethernet interface will evolve from 400 Gbit/s to 800 Gbit/s and then to 1.6 Tbit/s. The switching capacity will increase from 12.8 Tbit/s to 25.6 Tbit/s or even 51.2 Tbit/s. The evolution path of 100T+ is still under exploration, and there may be various options. Oriented to the evolution of high-speed optical interfaces, IPEC is an open international standards organization focusing on the new technologies of optical chips, optical/electrical components, and optical modules. After two years of development, IPEC has grown from 13 members to nearly 40 members from different sectors of the optoelectronics industry. At this session, IPEC will describe the evolution of DCN to 400G+, and the progress of IPEC's Advanced Research Work Group in the co-packaged optical interconnect OIO (NPO/CPO) field.
