Session Description:
3D sensing has many promising applications in consumer markets (gesture and facial recognition, gaming, AR/VR, to note a few) and in automotive markets, specifically for LiDAR and other advanced driver-assistance systems. There have been initial volume deployments in some of these segments, and potential volumes are such that a single application can shape the optics industry and associated supply chain. This panel will provide a reality check on where we stand: which applications are ramping, which applications are still years away from high volume, and how large are the volume forecasts? What are the barriers to entry from a technical and operations perspective, what is needed from the suppliers and how can they differentiate?
