Session Description
Beyond next-gen coherent modems, what’s next in the evolution of optical networks to help operators continue to scale? This session will discuss the latest advancements in optical communication technologies – from developing new fiber types, such as Hollow-core fiber (HCF) and multi-core fiber (MCF), to multi-band transmission systems. Will HCF solve the capacity scaling problem for multi-band transmission? Is scaling by increasing the number of cores per fiber a long-term solution? Is there a need to develop more amplifier bands beyond the C and L-band? This panel brings together fiber cable manufacturers, system vendors and network operators to provide their perspectives on the advantages and challenges of these technologies in the future of optical networks.
