Balagangadhar (Bala) Bathula, AT&T Labs, USA
Balagangadhar G. Bathula is leading the activities of OpenROADM MSA. His research interests are in software-defined networks (SDNs), Open architectures for transport, cross-layer network architectures, backbone network design, network cost optimization, optical networks, and machine learning. He received his Ph.D. degree in electrical communication engineering from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India. He also worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Electrical Engineering, Columbia University, New York.
Behzad Mirkhanzadeh, Open Networking Advanced Research (OpNeAR) Lab, UT Dallas, TX, USA
Behzad Mirkhanzadeh received his M.Sc. degree in Computer Science from University of Texas at Dallas. He has been working in the OpNeAR lab at the University of Texas at Dallas as a research assistant since 2016, while pursuing his Ph.D. degree in Telecommunications Engineering. His research interests include programmable networks, SD-WAN and edge computing.
Janet Peng, AT&T Labs, USA
Janet Peng is an experienced technology leader in hardware, packet optical and L3 network architecture, design, systems development and open-source eco-systems leadership. She led engineering teams delivering key initiatives spanning optical transport, L3 IP network architecture and design, proof of concept and SDN-enabled controllers including industry first open disaggregated hardware and software next-gen platforms for cell site gateway router, core and cloud edge routers. Currently leading an Optical Platforms Architecture Design and Systems engineering team responsible for the packet optical transport network technology and SDN-enabled open architecture for transport, cross-layer network architecture, design and development, activities of OpenROADM MSA and the development to integrate multi-vendor, SDN-enabled control plan and OSS systems. Janet received her master’s degree in electrical engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology, USA.
Olivier Renais, Orange Telecom, France
Olivier Renais received his master‘s degree of Optronics in 1992 from the E.N.S.S.A.T Lannion. He has been working as a System Engineer in Pirelli and CISCO Systems, as a consultant in NORTEL, and joined Orange Labs Lannion in 2005 as an optical network architect. He is currently involved in OpenROADM and transportPCE, an OpenDaylight project which provides a reference implementation for the control of OpenROADM based optical infrastructures.
