Dr. Stuart Elby is Senior Vice President, Data Center Business Group at Infinera Corporation, where he is responsible for data center networking product management and platform development targeted at cloud and data center operators.
Prior to Infinera, Elby served as VP and Chief Technologist of Verizon Labs and Verizon Digital Media Service. During his tenure at Verizon, he had significant influence in the architecture and development of Verizon's networks and services platforms including the migration to packet voice, the adoption of MPLS, introduction of wavelength switching/ROADM platforms, the first live carrier 100G LH link, and automated digital media distribution services. Previously, he served as a research associate at the NSF Center for Telecommunications Research at Columbia University, lead technologist at a laser surgery start-up and staff engineer at StorageTek. He serves on several university and industry advisory boards. Elby holds a BS in Optical Engineering from the University of Rochester and an MSEE and Doctorate from Columbia University.

Dr. Karen Liu has more than 25 years’ experience in optics and communications. Before joining Kaiam in 2014 to lead Marketing, she was Principal Analyst at Ovum, where her market research focus was on emerging technologies in high-bandwidth communications markets. At Tellabs, she was responsible for product planning and optical architecture of metro DWDM systems. She had done system and component R&D on early DWDM systems at IBM. Karen received a PhD in applied physics from Stanford, and a BSE from Princeton in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering.

Farshid completed his graduate studies at Cornell University. He started his career at Bell Communication Research working at definition and implementation of SS7 and AIN networks. Farshid has held several executive positions. At 3COM, Farshid was the head of global Product Management team responsible for VOIP, PDSN/HA, RAS, and financial systems. He later became the global General Manager of Switching BU at UTStarcom responsible for R&D, Product Management, Product Marketing, Business Development, and Services organizations. He later joined Bridgewater Systems as an Officer and the head of Products working with Financial Markets taking the company public. He held various executive positions at Ericsson leading IP, Mobile Packet Core, WiFi Venues, and Cloud programs creating strategic solutions, assets & services to enable new customer engagement models in synergy with our industry’s current pivots. Through his efforts a number of new customer and market segments were opened up to Ericsson. He is currently head of Sales at Go!Foton where he is primarily focused on innovations and steps toward re-architecting the Fiber connectivity layer at Central offices and Data centers.

Mahendra Persad is a Consulting Network Engineer at Verizon in Richardson, TX where he is responsible for creating, developing and publishing operational standards for detailed engineering, implementation engineering, and network equipment inventory for network routers, switches and passive optical components. He is also responsible for the First Office Install of any new equipment being implemented into the network.
Prior to Verizon, Mahendra worked at MCI/Worlcom where he was responsible for designing and preparing technical specifications for the implementation of various Sonet Network Architectures. He served as Lead Telecom Engineer for Outsource unit where he was responsible for reviewing specifications created by engineers, recommended modifications and provided necessary solutions.
Mahendra has over 15 years of Telecom experience. He earned his BS in Electronic Engineering Technology from DeVry University in Irving, TX.
