The American Institute for Manufacturing Integrated Photonics (AIM Photonics) was launched in 2015. This special panel session will bring together several members of the AIM Photonics leadership council to provide an overview of the Institute and to answer questions from the audience.
Speakers: Thomas Koch, Technical Review Board Chair, AIM Photonics, USA
Michael Liehr, CEO, AIM Photonics, USA
Michael Watts, CTO Innovation, AIM Photonics, USA
The National Network for Manufacturing Innovation (NNMI) is a network of research institutes in the United States that focuses on developing and commercializing manufacturing technologies through public-private partnerships between U.S. industry,
universities, and federal government agencies. The panel will discuss the technical goals, operational framework, near-term milestones, and opportunities for the broader photonics community.

We describe III-V photonic integration circuit (PIC) efforts within the American Institute for Manufacturing (AIM) Integrated Photonics. This included PICs on InP substrates as well as epitaxially grown III-V materials on Si. It also advanced laser integration and modeling for more complex PICs. Applications requiring integrated lasers as well as new applications enabled by integrated lasers will be described.
