Sumitomo Electric to Showcase Devices for Coherent Communications at OFC/NFOEC 2013

Anaheim, CA – March 19, 2013 — Sumitomo Electric Industries, Ltd., a leading global provider in advanced optical solutions, is showcasing its devices for coherent communications at OFC/NFOEC which is taking place 17-21 March 2013, at the Anaheim Convention Center, Anaheim, CA, USA. With the arrival of 100 Gb/s transmission, coherent technologies enables commercially viable 100G by providing communication service providers with a cost-effective solution for overcoming fiber impairments that occur at high line speeds. The tunable laser leverages Sumitomo Electric’s innovation in optical devices and modules offering unsurpassed low power consumption and high performance. Sumitomo Electric’s tunable laser for coherent transmission features high output power of 15.5dBm, wide tuning range of 191.35~196.10 THz and narrow line width of 300kHz. Sumitomo Electric will also feature its micro-iTLA, small size coherent receiver and small size InP modulator for 100G coherent transmission.
