Light Brigade Introduces New Online Training Modules

The Light Brigade is introducing its new online Light Bites Training Series, which will feature 60 to 90 minute training modules that cover a wide variety of fiber optic topics, both introductory and advanced. These online courses feature high quality images, animations, charts, and reference material drawn from Light Brigade’s industry leading course curriculum and Staff Development DVDs, with new material added where applicable. The course modules are user friendly and students can complete it at their own pace with easy to use stop, pause, and review controls.

Single-mode Fiber Technology: Theory and Fibers will be the first course in the Light Bites Training Series. A good understanding of fiber optic theory as it applies to the various types of single-mode fibers and a fiber optic system is critical to anybody working in fiber optics. Key topics include types of single-mode fibers, fiber attenuation, optical dispersion, wavelength, windows and bands, and key optical fiber standards. The course examines related applications and technologies, and details how different types of single-mode fibers are designed to address specific attenuation and dispersion requirements.

“This online training program is a new direction that allows those involved with optical fiber technology to expand their knowledge whenever and wherever they need,” said Larry Johnson, Director and Founder of Light Brigade.
Each module concludes with a review quiz to ensure mastery of the content. Students who successfully complete the course and the review quiz will receive a Light Brigade certificate of completion. In addition, continuing education credits are available through the Electronics Technician Association.

Single-mode Fiber Technology: Theory and Fibers will be available in April 2015 through the Light Brigade at a limited time introductory price of $125.
