Anritsu MP1800A BERT Part of 100G Active Optical Cable Demonstration by Mellanox at OFC 2014

High-speed Performance of New 100G QSFP for Data Center Fabrics to be Showcased Using MP1800A at Premier Optical Communications Expo

Richardson, TX – March 10, 2014 Anritsu Company (booth #1123) announces that Mellanox Technologies, a leading supplier of high-performance, end-to-end interconnect solutions for data center servers and storage systems, will feature Anritsu’s MP1800A BERT as part of a demonstration highlighting the performance of 100G optical modules in the Mellanox booth (#3144) during OFC 2014, March 11-13, in San Francisco, CA. The demonstration featuring the MP1800A will showcase how the optical modules meet the high-speed demands of data centers and Next Generation Networks (NGNs).

“As data centers move to 100Gb/s pipes, they require optical modules that will deliver additional bandwidth but not increase power consumption, size, or cost. Our OFC demonstration will highlight how Mellanox’s silicon photonics-based QSFP 100G optical modules address those stringent requirements, thereby accelerating 100Gb/s adoption in data centers. The MP1800A was the best test solution for us to conduct such a high-speed demonstration,” said Mehdi Asghari, Vice President of Research and Development for Mellanox Technologies.

Mellanox selected the MP1800A, in part, because it integrates a multiple synchronized 28G/32G BERT with a built-in Pulse Pattern Generator (PPG) that supports output of high-quality, low intrinsic jitter signals; a built-in High Sensitivity Error Detector (ED) with best-in-class input sensitivity and fast Auto Adjust function; and a 4PAM/8PAM Converter. Additionally, the MP1800A has 3.5Vp-p high output voltage so it can drive optical components, such as the Mellanox WDM QSFP 100G optical module.

“Accurately testing high-speed optical components for NGNs requires test instrumentation with the best performance. Our MP1800A has best-in-class specifications and unique integrated analysis capabilities that make it well suited for leading-edge technology demonstrations. Participating in the Mellanox OFC demonstration is part of our mission to advance optical communications,” said Hiroshi Goto, Business Development Manager, Anritsu Company.
