Anritsu to Display High-Speed Signal Integrity Solutions at OFC

LOS ANGELES, Mar. 6 - Anritsu Company (OFC booth #1710) will be highlighting its 40/100G signal integrity solutions as part of its overall test solution portfolio during OFC 2012 in Los Angeles, March 6-8. In addition, Anritsu test instruments will be part of demonstrations being conducted by Kotura, Inc. (#1951) and Sumitomo Electric, Inc. (#1624), as Anritsu re-establishes its commitment to developing the analysis tools necessary for the design of Next Generation Networks (NGNs).

One feature product at OFC will be the MP1800A BERT Signal Quality Analyzer (SQA). Designed with an expandable and flexible configuration, and wideband frequency coverage from 100 Mbps to 56 Gbps, the MP1800A has a multiple synchronized 28G BERT with a built-in Pulse Pattern Generator (PPG) that supports output of high-quality, low intrinsic jitter signals, as well as a built-in Error Detector (ED) with high input sensitivity of 10 mV. The low intrinsic jitter and fast Tr/Tf capability allow the MP1800A to conduct highly accurate signal integrity analysis. Additionally, the BERT SQA’s 3.5Vp-p high output voltage allows it to drive optical components. The MP1800A will be configured with new 32G multi-channel modules.

With the modules, the BERT can analyze 100GbE designs, as well as OTU-4, 4x32G DP-QPSK, CEI-28G, 32G Fibre Channel, and Infiniband EDR. The MP1825B, a 4-tap pre-emphasis converter for bit rates up to 28.1 Gbps, will also be configured with the MP1800A. It supports easy changes to the pre-emphasis waveform amplitude, offset, and amplitude of each tap, for effective evaluation of the characteristics of high-speed interfaces. In addition to being in the Anritsu booth, the MP1800A will be part of a live demonstration of 25-28 Gbps optical links designed to support 100 Gbps networking applications being conducted by Kotura.

Another instrument that will be in multiple booths is the MD1260A 40/100GbE Analyzer. The all-in-one portable MD1260A supports the latest high-speed transmission technologies, such as 40/100GbE, OTU-3, and OTU-4. It is ideal for manufacturing inspection of transmission equipment supporting 40/100GbE, as well as for installing and commissioning 40/100GbE networks. Its overall performance made it well suited for a demonstration on 40 Gbps serial CFP-FR optical module technology in Sumitomo’s booth during OFC.

For active optical device characterization, Anritsu will be showing the MS9740A optical spectrum analyzer (OSA) and the MP2100A BERTWave all-in-one BERT and EYE/Pulse Scope solution. A benchtop OSA covering 600 nm to 1750 nm, the MS9740A offers high-performance optical resolution and high-speed measurements to support the needs of device and component manufacturers. The MP2100A has a gating time that is 90% faster compared to conventional BERT equipment using remote commands, and its EYE/Pulse Scope function is 300% faster. In addition, measurement times are much shorter due to the simultaneous BER measurement and EYE pattern analysis. Handheld field instrumentation for outside plant applications will also be on display.

Small, lightweight and easy-to-use, the MT9090 µOTDR features 5 cm resolution, dead zones of less than 1 meter and a built-in 10 m launch fiber. A Test Automator makes it simple to set up a sequence of tests that require only one key press to initiate. The MT9083 ACCESS Master™ OTDR provides all the measurement functions and performance for optical fiber construction and maintenance in a compact, lightweight, all-in-one unit that eliminates the burden of carrying many different test sets and instruments on-site.
