Session Description

Optical Cross Connect technology is one of the core supporting systems of the modern optical transport network. In this topic, we will review major technological advances in NG-optical Cross Connect, and then introduce the potential technological developing trend.
  • Analyzing the driving forces for its future development in NG-optical Cross Connect, and the future challenges and opportunities that it faces.
  • With the consideration of these challenges and opportunities, we describe the future trends and evolution paths in key areas including both carrier network and enterprise network.
  • Future application of NG-OXC in optical fiber communication system overall backbone network, metro network, and novel software-defined optical transport network, aiming to more effectively support future generations of internet, 4K/8K video, cloud computing, data center interconnect and internet of things, as well as the smart home and smart city initiatives.

Dr. Ning Deng is the Standard Representative for transmission network domestic standards and optical layer international standards. He also leads research work on all optical switching network and optical technologies for mobile applications.  

Dr. Deng currently serves as Editor for multiple ITU-T Recommendations. He is a Senior Member of IEEE. He has more than 20 patents granted or pending, and close to 30 papers in referred international conferences and journals. He holds a Ph.D. degree from the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
